Spring break! Yessss.

Sun Mar 22, 2009, 11:08 PM
Finally spring break. This quarter was nuts. Since it's my senior year at my university, I had to do this two-quarter senior project that totally kicked my butt. It was kinda hard because I had to manage a group...which is not fun. Buuuut we managed to pull together by the end of this quarter and actually build the thing we were planning to build. I have never programmed more accurately and intensely in my life. In Java, too! And with this project over, I can see that I'm probably doomed to be shunted into programming positions. I love hardware and stuff, but all I can do is program. And do art. I had an interview with Raytheon in the middle of the quarter for hardware jobs, and their reps thought that I was more suited to software positions. Then again, I guess that's not so bad. It's just that I don't think I'm a particularly amazing programmer.

In case anyone cares, my group dismantled a Wii remote, ripped out its camera, wired it to a microcontroller, hooked it up to a computer, and then used a glove with LEDs on the tips of the thumb and index finger to control the mouse on the computer. Wii remote, I have a new respect for what you do. Also, wtf with the three-pronged screws? Nintendo reeaaally doesn't want anybody opening that thing up.

My back also hurts. I think I leaned forward a little too much on one of my triple jumps at the track meet this weekend, so now my back hates me. Well, more than it did already. Full speed + bad back + bad form + cold = pain.

:sushi:

Finally I have time for comics! Yessss! I just updated Intersection today.

Likely order that comics will be updated:

1. Lexcore [double update]
2. Magical Killer Princess
3. Rondo
4. System.out.println("RAWR!"); [I figured I should update it at least once a year...]
5. Wonderment

I should also start coding ~october-fish's and my site.

Yeesh. I'm a busy girl. D:

:sushi:

I'm in these clubs. Not that I really participate. Maybe someday. Haha.

Congrats that you finished :D
Manage a group is really hard >__>... I have done it 4 times this year* now is exam week*, and there are 2 more group projects to come DX...
In Java :D Cool!! So you are interested in hw originally? Me too. Programming is not fun as seen on movies. Hw is something more tangible .
You done the wii remote gloves??? :O.. You are really awesome. Did it turned out as you planned?
Three-pronged screw?? :lmao: they sure dont want you to open it  btw what is microcontroller for? :o

Hope you get well;__;. Please take care of yourself

Wah! Good luck on exams and your group projects. ;__;

Haha, yeah, I thought it was interesting...at first. XD Now I'm just like, "MEH HOMEWORK." Programming looks much cooler in movies. Hahaha.

The Wiimote glove thing didn't turn out exaaactly as planned, since we were pressed for time, but it worked better than I thought it would. We were supposed to program calibration into the software, but we didn't have time. @_@ Haha, yeah, when we saw the screws, we were like, "...We don't have a screwdriver like that. WTF." The microcontroller was for controlling the Wiimote camera and sending the data to the computer. We only used the camera and nothing else from the Wiimote.

Thanks. :glomp:

Three pronged screw: You will never defeat me. Your screwdrivers are all inadequate.

Murira: Oh no!

Three pronged screw: Yes, you lament because of what I am in telling you! Presently!

;__; The screw is evil!
:iconmurirark:
Wah! Up till 5? XD; Are you okay? Hahaha. Have any exams yet?

We ended up unscrewing them a little bit with a flathead screwdriver. Then we just kinda broke it and ripped it open. Ahaha.
:iconoctober-fish:
I want to see your senior project in action one day. :U

You kept it, right?

Have some tea.
:iconmurirark:
XD;; I don't have the parts to make it work anymore. My friend has the microcontroller, I've got the software, and my other group dude has the glove. Ahaha... @_@ I might have some video of it on my phone though. Maybe.
